Going by the FIFA Website (and my TV screen for Japan)
Japan 1 - 0 Singapore ..... half way through 2nd half in a fairly packed Saitama stadium. Japan already through.
Korea 0 - 0 Maldives ... end of first half. Not looking good there for Goldmember. Korea need to win to ensure qualification.
Uzbekistan 4 - 0 Taipei.... Uzbeks already qualified too and emphasised their superiority in the group.

Korea has been tits on a bull on the first half.
Could they be 45 minutes away from a shock exit?
Where the hell is a ruddy goal going to arrive?!
My gym was nearly empty tonight. Usually there would be another 20-30 on top of the 30 there were there. Must all be at home watching the game.

Anyone watching Korea?
Apparently its 0-0 at HT.
Uzbekistan are 5-0 up now and Japan have 5 minutes left in their game.

I saw the first 30 odd minutes at my gym (great thing tv's on running machines). And have got home to watch the 2nd half. Korea had a few good chances but basically they were lethargic in getting to the ball too much and the Maldives have been defending really well (shutting the Koreans down quickly and allowing them no space). Koreas chances were coming from little dinky crosses into the box and then hoping they would fall for players in the melee. Maldives aren't really interested in playing football though. Slow restarts, guys collapsing for injuries and when they get the ball they either hoof it down field or one guy dribbles as far as he can before being fouled, tackled or kicking it into touch. The first 20 minutes was about as bad as I've ever seen Korea look with the ball.

Japan have looked pretty ineffective against Singapore too. Its all one way but they lack the cutting edge up front same as Korea. I'm really starting to like the look of this young guy Ohkubo though. Scores a load for Cerezo Osaka (who are crap) and I think he's just breaking into the full national side now. Could be the next Nakata or Ono if someone takes a gamble on him. Wish Aberdeen still had money to sign players. Him and Carlos Ruiz (Guatemala/LA Galaxy) up front and we'd be a shoe-in for the SPL. And we'd get to watch the SPL on Japanaese TV too Oops...game is over now. Can't believe how many people turned up to watch what was basically a practice match. Is Sangam full-ish?

Decent crowd at Sangam... but Korea are pretty useless.
I thought Lebanon v Vietnam was supposed to be starting at the same time as this one, but I guess not...

Lebanon Vietnam is starting at 6pm local time. I think they are 4? hours behind?
How long left? 20 minutes or so?
I can see Korea getting a 0-0 then several brown envelopes being dispatched to Lebanon and Vietnam managing to get a 1-1 draw.

1-0 Korea Kim Doo-hyun (Suwon hero) scores... a nice goal too. Or Do-Heon Kim as FIFA call him Should be wrapped up for Korea then since maldives willnae score. Jammy buggers. What happened to Mr Haircare? Injury? Or I might have read that wrong and Jo Jae Jin came off. Hard to tell on the FIFA site which is OFF and which is ON. I think the bufty came on in 26 minutes, right?

Aye bufty off injured... Jo Jae-jin on.
Song Jong-guk has also gone off for Seol Ki-hyeon.
Victory all but confirmed for Korea, but it took them 155 minutes of football against the Maldives before scoring... nowt to celebrate about.

Hope JC is watching these qualifiers as closely as we are....might be a few better players in these teams than in the Peterhead squad!! Well there's certainly no-one good in the Maldives side. I think Lee Woon-jae touched the ball only once in the second half... Full time, 2-0. Job done, but not too impressive.

Well they toughed it out for the win in the end. Bit of a relief. What would we have to laugh and complain about if they'd been knocked out this early? I'll be real interested to see if they get drawn to play North Korea now. Also wondering how they work the seedings? The Korean players looked like they'd lost when teh game finished and were hurrying around trying to score more goals. Is there some deal about how many points you accumulated and goal difference that works out the second round seedings
