BEIJING – China Super League side Beijing Hyundai will take on Manchester United next July when the English Premier League giants visit the Chinese capital as part of the summer tour of East Asia.
According to Chinese news agency Xinhua, the match between United and Beijing Hyundai on July 26 has been confirmed by the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, who are hoping to bring in other top European clubs for high-profile friendly matches.
"We hope to invite those first-class clubs from Spain, Italy, England and Germany for soccer friendlies to cater to the needs of our soccer fans, and we have been contacting Bayern Munich," said an official of the bureau.
The game in Beijing could be one of up to four matches that the English side will play on their trip to the East, which is also likely to include stops in Hong Kong and Japan. The full fixture list will likely be confirmed in December.
United last toured Asia in 2001 when they played matches in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
