This is the place to discuss individual players, whether in the K-League or overseas. For starters - Is Park Ji-sung's European career about to take off? Or is his early season form with PSV a flash in the pan?

I think this year could be Park international breakthrough , he already scored once in the Champ League qual , and the goal were really something.
And in the Dutch league he scored to, and got some assist. For Park i think he´s the best korean player right know, and the one thats got the biggest potential.

Not only potential, he's doing well right NOW and I cannot stress enough how important that is.

Arsenal vs Park Ji Sung tonight.
Hopefully Ji Sung has recovered from his recent injury (missed out a league and vietnam game).
Can anyone who will be watching the game give some review of Ji Sung's performance tonight?

Both Lee Young-pyo and Park Ji-sung played the full 90 minutes, but I didn't see the game so I can't tell you if they were any good or not.

I watched it. Park Ji-sung and Lee Young-pyo were among the better players of the night along with Ooijer and Vogel. They did fine. The first half, PSV didn't do very well but the 2nd half was a different story. Jan Vanegoor of Hesselink went VERY close to scoring an equalizer and Lee Young-pyo started getting his footwork together. Park Ji-sung had a shot or two on target, which was good considering he didn't have too many chances. Both our guys put up a commendable performance against one of the best teams in the world.

The start for PSV seemed rather stunted... I think they knew individually they were really behind (especialy with the departures of Kezman and Robben) so they were very nervous. Here's how PSV lined up: 4-3-3
GK Zoetebier - Fine performance. Poor defending led to the own goal by Alex. 6
DF (L to R) YP Lee - started nervous but grew much stronger as the game went on. Also played a clever offside trap which made Pires' header not count. 7 Alex - Scored the own goal. Average defending. 6 Bouma - Seemed rather invisible throughout the 90 minutes and that's not good if you're a defender. 5 Ooijer - Good game from Ooijer. He did a fine job sending in dangerous crosses and linked well with Park Ji-sung on the right. 7
MF (L to R) Vogel - Made some nice runs and like the other better players gained confidence as the game went on. 7 Phillip Cocu - Rather invisible. He simply wasn't good enough to deal with the likes of Vieira. 4 Van Bommel - Didn't do very well I'm afraid. Made a lot of bad tackles, giving away free kicks in dangerous positions and also took harmless long shots instead of looking for making the passes that would make the best of the movement of Park JS. 5
FW (L to R) Beasley - Too weak. He was brushed off the ball at every turn and didn't show any of his trademark pace. Also skills on the ball were lacking. 4 Sibon - Hiddink wanted to use him to hold the ball and make passes to Beasley and Park but it didn't work very well. Sibon simply didn't have enough skill. 4 Park Ji-sung - Out of the starters, the only positive in attack for PSV. He had some pretty decent attempts on goal. 7
Substitutes: Farfan (on for Beasley) - Just about equally useless as Beasley. 4 Vannegor - For the short time he was on the pitch he was making things really happen. Had a good attempt on target. 7

I thought Park did pretty well considering every time PSV got the ball to him he had three Arsenal players in his face. Being able to instantly kill a firmly hit pass hit from 30 yards away came in handy a couple of times. Did okay with that header just over the top as well - the cross wasn't great. Beasley and Park, on opposite wings, were up against the same kind of pressure. Hiddink, I reckon, decided he had to replace one, and Park, with a bit more experience and a less one-dimensional game, was coping with the misery a bit better, so the Yank was yanked. Yer man Sibon was a bit of a big useless galoot, though.
Lee Young-pyo also had a decent one, but he was jammy as hell with that offside goal. He was a split second late stepping up, Pires was onside, but Lee's early and confident appeal went a long way toward convincing the linesman, methinks. Still he had a good game on Pires overall, who looked like he was in one of his rampant moods and was determined to do most on the damage down Lee's wing. A lot of far better known players have been embarrassed on days like that.

As the game went on, we saw more and more of the 2002 Lee Young-pyo and from what I've seen so far, I think Lee YP plays better for PSV than he does for Korea.
