What do you guys think of Ki Hyeon's move to Wolves?
I didn't expect him to go to a non-top division club (not shown in tv)
Even Chinese and Japs can play in the Primier League, why not Koreans

Most of the Asians in the EPL are only signed to sell shirts or sponsorship deals in their home countries anyway and not necessarily for their football prowess. If Man utd, Arsenal or whoever thought he could shift a few million in merchandise in Seoul then I'm sure they'd have snapped up Lee Chun Soo or Ch Du Ri for the reserve teams. As for Seol signing for Wolves ... they are a big team and can pay big wages. Could easily find himself in the Premiership next season. Or on a season long loan deal to Celtic ...

Well I hope Wolves get promoted. I guess that's the plan. Either that or if Wolves don't get promoted, he's going to have to knock in 30 goals and attract a transfer bid from a Premiership side. I hope Wolves pull it off.

To the tune of...erm....Elton John's Saturday Night.

The match is delayed for one day. Ki Hyeon playing tomorrow The game went ahead yesterday, and finished 3-3. Seol played for 85 minutes before being replaced by Dean Sturridge Good to see the two Scots scoring Wolves' three goals, though Kenny Miller missed a penalty. Dave Jones has said that he wants someone else to take spot-kicks from now on... a job for Seol?

Seol got his first Wolves goal last night, but they still went out of the League Cup to Burnley on penalties. Wolves had two penalties saved during normal time, too. Seol didn't take any of Wolves' shoot-out kicks...

Here's an interesting little montage of Seol (mostly at Anderlecht). A bit less arty and more visible would've been nice though. There's also an enigmatic statement at the end of it, which, I dunno, may be comparing him favourably to Ahn Jung-hwan. ;D You're better off downloading it - it doesn't stream very well.

Anyone who's signed up to the premium tv network which covers 70 odd English and a few Scottish teams' internet sites can watch the Wolves net tv channel. It has an interview with Seol, speaking not exactly fluent but reasonably impressive English for someone barely a few days into his first ever stint in an English-speaking country. I think this is a good move for him. The level of the English 2nd division (sorry, Coca Cola Championship !?) is no lower than the Belgian League and he should be getting more first team football. Hopefully he'll be in the Premiership next season and will have had enough time to get used to England to be ready for it. If Wolves don't go up, he'll have had a good chance to impress to get other English clubs interested. Incidentally, there may have been a couple of Japanese and Chinese players in England already, but I don't think any of them have done much to convince sceptical English minds that there's much else in the way of talent to be found in their home countries. Maybe Li Tie and Sun Jihai have done best, although neither particularly outstanding. The Japanese have looked totally like merchandise shifters only in every case, even though their national team put up a decent show against England in the pre Euro 2004 friendly. Even Inamoto, who's just joined West Brom, in a quite bizarre deal where they can release him without paying if he doesn't play, hasn't done much. He had a goodish world cup, and then a flicker of getting a look in at Fulham last season. However, I heard from some Fulham regulars that his nickname there was Ina-coma!! Sure enough, Fulham were not interested in paying the fairly small amount Gamba Osaka wanted for him.
