Geez, this is almost sounding like one of those Mastercard ads.
Transfer income spent on new talent: $0 Amount spent on hookers: $850k Look on Porterfield's face when he's told half the squad have genital herpes: priceless.

He wears a suit on the bus to and from the stadium. I'm sure he saves his suit for other occasions too. M'lud.

FROM FOX SPORTS AUSTRALIA
Elrich feels betrayed By David Lewis January 20, 2005
AHMAD Elrich, Australian football's next big thing, yesterday described himself as a "victim of greed" as the clock ticked down on his bid to reactivate a stalled career.
The Socceroos midfielder is praying that Busan Icons, the Korean club he walked out on two months ago, accept a $1.2million bid from Birmingham City before the transfer window closes down at the end of the month.
If Busan don't budge, Elrich, 23, will be handcuffed until July when he'll be free to sign a new deal elsewhere and escape the purgatory of a 12-month contract he regrets signing.
"I'm a victim of greed because Busan are asking a ridiculous amount for me considering the depressed state of the football marketplace these days," Elrich said from his Sydney home yesterday.
"I just want to get on with my football. If Busan let me go, I'd even play for nothing.
"This should be the biggest year of my life with the Socceroos trying to qualify for the World Cup. Not being a part of things is killing me."
Busan, managed by Englishman Ian Porterfield, want $2.5million for Elrich.
But Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is unwilling to increase his offer - to be paid in three instalments of $400,000 and based on the amount of games Elrich plays.
"I still hope something can be resolved," said Elrich. "I went to Busan on the condition a $US200,000 escape clause was part of the contract.
"My agent [England's First Artist] failed to deliver on that. I don't think they worked in my interests.
"I've been stitched up and betrayed, and I'm now hoping Busan see sense and release me because they got me for nothing and will still make some money."
Premiership clubs Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough are also keen to have a look at Elrich, who would miss the Confederations Cup in Germany this year if he chooses to sit out the remainder of his contract.

Birmingham have just taken Jermaine Pennant on loan until the end of the season so it looks like they might be giving up on Elrich... for now anyway.

He might not want to play if he was tricked into staying longer than he had initially wanted.... can't criticise the guy if you don't know the whole story!

Didn't read his contract before signing it? That was a bit daft...

I know the whole story, but I can't talk about the details. But be assured, the player is the one that screwed the team over. i believe the term teachers in korea use is 'midnight run'...

Yeah i know that but still, there really isn't anything for him to do. Mind as well play the rest of the contract out and move on with his career.

Can't wait to see how that English Motherwell reject gets on at Chunnam. ;D He must be pretty poor if he was rejected by Motherwell in the last few seasons!
