www.clarets-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=190512Andy Cooke could be set to make a sensational return to Burnley with news that from this week he will be training with the club. Cooke was sold by Burnley in the autumn of 2000 as Stan Ternent looked to improve his striking options. Paul Robinson arrived from Wimbledon on loan and Ian Moore was signed from Stockport. Cooke moved on to Stoke, the club he supported as a youngster and in 2001/02 season he helped them to promotion under the management of Gudjon Thordason. In the following season he played for both Steve Cotterill and Dave Kevan before Tony Pulis came in and just about kept the Potteries side in the division. That brought an end to his Stoke career and he elected to move to South Korea and sign for Buson Icons where he has had a successful year and a half. He's back now and with Burnley's search for a striker and the coaching staff aware of Cooke, he has been invited to train with us and will be hoping to impress enough to earn a deal. His last appearance for Burnley came in a 1-0 home win against Crewe in October 2000 and he scored the goal. In total he scored 61 goals in 203 appearances for us. Now 30, Cookey is looking to resurrect his career in the Football League.

If this happens, my missus would be even more keen to see a "Championship" match, what with Seol Gi-hyeon with Wolves (who may get another chance from Hoddle), Curo to boo at QPR, my lads Watford, Jon Hjelde at Forest, and now Cookie at Burnley. It's a who's-who of former K-League lads.

Don't forget Chrissy '2 games' Marsden Marsden's a "League One" player with Sheffield Wednesday And it looks like he won't be playing much for the Owls in the next few months: ------------------------------ news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/4081669.stmSheffield Wednesday captain Chris Marsden is to miss the next three months of the season following surgery to clear up a hamstring injury. Marsden is to have an operation to cure the hamstring tendon problem which has kept him out of action since October. The Owls had hoped a period of rest and recuperation would have restored the 35-year-old midfielder to fitness.
