Why are so many K-League clubs obssessed with signing Brazilians that only last for about 6 months before they get turned over for another lot? Looking at the foreigners in the K-League it seems that the most successful in the long run have been the Eastern European imports but managers still insist on signing South Americans. Its not even as if they are good quality players either most of them are pretty ordinary. Is this just a fad or a conspiracy by agents, managers and clubs to launder their drug money? P.S. This thread was mostly inspired by the work-shy Nadson's pathetic excuse for football in the past half dozen games

Whaddya mean?!
He's comitted 27 fouls in 10 games. Not bad for a centre forward.
3 goals is a bit poxy I suppose but then again if you're playing up front at Busan you probably aren't getting the best service in the league.

South Americans are cheaper. Than what?? How much money is in Serbian football these days? And for example....Nadson cost millions of dollars and is woeful.

And for example....Nadson cost millions of dollars and is woeful. He's in a "slump" (love that word)... 14 goals from 18 games last season wasn't too woeful, nor were his 6 goals from 12 K-league first stage matches. I guess he just figured the Samsung Hauzen Cup wasn't worth bothering with... back scoring again now that the K-league has resumed

Redneck13?
Sure Iv'e seen that name before. You popped over from davesesl by any chance?
Got meself banned from there many moons ago.
They should sign kiwis as you could get the All Whites (that's the nickname of the NZ football team in case ye dinna nooo) squad for the price of Nadson. Since all us whites look the same you could hide most of them and just rotate them during the season.

On the Brazilians point... surely it's a combination of laziness and convenience that sees them flooding into and out of the league at each transfer window?
There was a wee explosion of Brazilian arrivals from around 2000, and I'd imagine that a load of other agents will have jumped on the bandwagon looking for Brazilian clients. The Korean branches of Brazilian coaching schools (BrazilFA.co.kr for example, as well as the Sao Paulo youth team thingy whose name I can't remember) will also play a part. The clubs will be seeing far more Brazilian player profiles/CVs/videos than from any other market and it'd be a lot easier to pick up someone that's offered to you (along with videos etc delivered to your desk) than it would be for the club to send scouts out to Eastern Europe to find talent that way. Sign them on short-term deals, if they're crap then punt them. If they're alright then sign them up on a longer deal and hope a Japanese side comes looking (a la Sandro or Magno Alves).
It's also a lot easier to pick Brazilians off the shelf than it is to rear your own youngsters... something that Ian Porterfield has said he wanted to try to rectify at Busan I'cons.

I suppose it doesn't help that there is virtually no transfer market in Korea to speak of. How often do you see a Korean player move between 2 K-League teams? This means bosses have to go shopping abroad.

These promo videos must be nothing but the joker fluking in miracle goals using the latest photoshop technology and amazing assists.
I'd like to think if they are going to sign somebody that they actually request the guys last ten games in full or something.

Yeah I was saying to HJ the other week that it'd be pretty easy to make even the worst player look half decent in a promo video.
I was picturing some some careful editing of a player in broad daylight wearing a red shirt against Rio or something playing a beautiful 80 yard pass to some guy in a white shirt in a night time game in the driving rain who then beats the Sao Paolo defender before slamming a shot past the goalkeeper (who is now being shown in black and white and is actually Gordon Banks)
