img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/rioave2/ricardo%20nascimento/rixa01.jpg[/img] Hi there, My name is Hugo Anjos and i'm writing from Portugal. I'm one of the webmasters of the rioave.weblog.com.pt website, from the portuguese team RIO AVE FC. The fact is that was anounced that our key player, RICARDO NASCIMENTO, is leaving the club to join the ranks of FC Seoul. Officials from the team were watching last saturday match and were convinced by the technical skills of this great player. This season, he played 19 games, scored 3 goals, and gave 6 assists., and we are sure he will make an impression in Korea. What can you tell my about FC Seoul righ now? Ricardo Nascimento was compared to Michel Platini when he was younger. Because of personality problems, he never went as far has his talent would make us think. But two years in the second division, RIO AVE FC gave him the chance to prove himself and, at the age of 31, he is one of the most impressive players of the championship, and a tremendous specialist in set plays. I'll finishing remembering that RIO AVE FC is the club that signed Gaucho, the brazilian who was in Busan Icons. It was him that scored the winning goal against Penafiel in the last game. We will missi RICARDO NASCIMENTO, but we are sure that he will be an idol in Korea. If you wanna come to our weblog and know more, you an take notice of this adress: rioave.weblog.com.pt. Even so, i believe that a translated version from portuguese to english is better, so i leave you with the necessary link: translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Frioave.weblog.com.pt&langpair=pt|en&hl=pt-PT&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_toolsDon't forget to leave a comment. Best wishes.

I'll finishing remembering that RIO AVE FC is the club that signed Gaucho, the brazilian who was in Busan Icons. He was hopeless... is he any better now? FC Seoul changed their manager during December, and I think they should be a lot better in 2005 (though I hope not). They've got quite a bit of money to spend and have brought in some good Korean players (Lee Min-sung and Lee Ki-hyung, both defenders with tons of international caps) as well as adding Nonato from Daegu (K-League's 2nd top scorer in 2004). Keep checking here and we'll let you know how he's getting on

Gaucho is doing about the same there as he did here....
this guy that Seoul is getting seems to be in the same league (pun intended)
The thing about "personality problems" should make all sorts of alarm bells go off in any Korean club; Gaucho's problem was that he simply couldn't adapt to the lifestyle, food, atmosphere, etc..
good luck Ricardo... your gonna need it.

Hi there, Thanks for your help. I hope we stay in touch and that Ricardo (that will be is name in Korea, so the officials of the clube told him), will be very happy. Because we edit a non-official supporters site of Rio Ave ( rioave.weblog.com.pt), we were in touch with him, and he for what he told us, he got the best information possible from the club and the city. He will leave for Cyprus, were the team is staying, this wednesday morning, and he will start to work with the clube. He liked the direct contact with the coach very much hand he's hopeful that he will show his game over there. This January, he got a proposition from Vitória Guimarães, here in Portugal, that wanted him to take the place of Nuno Assis, who went to Benfica, but Rio Ave chose to keep him. This time, because of the financial conditions, the decision was diferente. In Portugal, people tal about a transfer fee or 250.000 euros. For Rio Ave it was better than nothing, because Ricardo would end his contract in the end of the season and we are sure that one of the clubes with more money would get him. Even so, it will be dreadful for us. Rio Ave was dreaming about a european competition qualification, but without Ricardo it will be impossible. Worst, we will be playing Sporting Lisbon away this sunday, the team from Mota. About the personality problems, well its a thing from the past. He was a rebel when he was young, but talented players frequently have a difficult way of being. He is very inteligent, and mature. He is so important in portuguese football that several tv channels were in Rio Ave training this morning, were he cryed saying goobye to the team, an offered one of his paintings to our club president. Yes, Ricardo likes to paint in his free time (in the picture at the is looking at one of his pieces...) and he is fairly good at it. We will be expecting more information about the team and the club. They told Ricardo that the average crowd inm the stadium is 65.000 people. Is this true? Finally, Ricardo, that asked Mota for information, was informed that we talked about him in this forum, and left a message for korean supporters: "I got the best references from FC Seoul. Its the club were everybody wants to play in Korea. They have ambitious goals for next season and i think i can help to fulfill them. Above all, i just want to show what i can do and please the supporters, that are very enthusiastic. I'm confident that everything will turn out well. Wait and see". About Gaúcho, its true he has not scored the goals we were expecting, specially with Ricardo giving him extraordinary assists, but he was decisive this saturday and also scored in Dragon Stadium, against FC Porto. So we are expecting better perfomances i the second half of the season. If you want to read our weblog in english, with the message Ricardo left to portuguese supporters, you can use this link: translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Frioave.weblog.com.pt&langpair=pt|en&hl=pt-PT&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

If that's what they said then they're a bunch of lying toads... The capacity of the Seoul World Cup stadium is 65k, but even the national team haven't managed that for a while. FC Seoul's average home attendance in 2004 was 15,363 - that was boosted by getting 47,928 on the opening day but then in October the crowds were as low as 2,452. I seem to remember Colombian saying that Busan officials told Chris Marsden they sold out the Asiad on a regular basis too when that was a blatant lie... maybe they told Ricardo the capacity of the stadium rather than the attendance. Funny that he's going to be known as 'Ricardo' to the Korean fans as they already have a player called Ricardo on their books, and they tend to give the foreign players unique names in case of a clash... (hey, they could call him Splodgy after his artistic talents)

Serves these lazy players right for not putting in the time to research and confirm all the "incentives" they've been told to come along. Hell, most of these guys have agents who should have nothing better to do. I guess agents are only interested in seeing their clients' names on dotted lines. Same happened for Marsden, Elrich, that Turkish bloke at Incheon who pissed off to Japan....

i'll give him 'till early april. don't be pessimistic. Gaucho lasted till the mid-season break, before he begged to be released from his contract.

FC Seul strikes again in Portugal. After Ricardo Nascimento, now FRANCO, the central defender from RIO AVE FC, is going to sign saturday night for the corean clube. He is a defender that made all the 34 games of RAFC last season, and this year only lost some minutes against Benfica. He is a leader on the field, and he's always giving orders and helping his teammates. The fact he's 31 years old and the facto RIO AVE needs to save the money from his contracto forced the situation. They are saying here that the transfer fee will be 150.000 euros. By the way, Franco is Rio Ave best scorer this season, with 5 goals. All from corners kicked by Ricardo Nascimento. They work well together in set plays. By the way, Ricardo came back to Portugal from the pre-season stage in Cyprus and he says the conditions of FC Seoul are wonderful and that he scored a goal and gave several assists in a couple of training matches he did over there. Next week he will leave for Korea, to fulfill his two year contract. But before, he will support Rio Ave agains Boavista, showing up in the stadium to encourage his former teammates. Over here the news and an exclusive photo of Franco with the brazilian agent that works with FC Seul: translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Frioave.weblog.com.pt&langpair=pt|en&hl=pt-BR&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_toolsIn this link news about other players the guys from FC Seul are searching in Portugal: translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fterceiroanel.weblog.com.pt&langpair=pt|en&hl=pt-BR&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_toolsLater on, and because RAFC plays tomorrow against Boavista, i will try to give more news. But beware of the Rio Ave Weblog. I leave you with some pictures of Franco. Cheers. img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/rioave/rioavenacional0405/FrancoJacques.jpg[/img] Above, Franco celebrating the goal scored against Nacional. Down here, the same Franco in Da Luz Stadium, fighting with Benfica norwegian player Karadas. He also scored over there.

Probably worth learning that FC Seoul were based in a fine city called Anyang where they were well suported but their owners (thingys LG) decided to move them which led to a lot of protesting, screaming and yelling from fans.
They moved, they got shit crowds and they suck and LG can go f**k themselves.
The guy won't last a season with them regardless of how well he does. It's the way the football world works. Mercenaries floating about everywhere looking for big dollars and a piss easy lifestyle in a piss easy league.
