After watching the Arse vs Manure game the other day and the stramash (it means ' trouble' of sorts) in the tunnel I got to thinking about the role of the Captain and the respect they get from the players. Roy Keane was absolutely brilliant the other night, scaring the shhhit out of Patrick Viera even before the game had started. Keane was interviewed after the game and said Vieria started a confrontation with Gary Neville,he asked him to "start on me" and quickly moved to he front of the tunnel. You can see it here: www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Un-edited%20TunnelAnyway, Roy's not a man to mess with, sticking up for his teammates and all that. A real mans man in my opinion. On a similar note this week, Fat Bazza Ferguson went back to his spiritual midden, Ibrox this week. What a tool! Captain of his country (please!), club Captain at the mighty Blackburn, but of course couldn't handle life a whole 200 miles from home. He said he never should have left Rangers and even his number (6) at Ibrox was put into semi-retirement when he left. Read more here: www.theherald.co.uk/sport/32579.html Personally, I think he's one of the worst examples of a captain that I can remember. Anyway, maybe Colombian can give us some insights into the role of the Captain at Busan or other Korean teams?

Any truth in the rumour that Ferguson only came back because he missed fighting outside the chippy on Friday nights?
As far as Suwon are concerned, I've noticed that Cha has about four captains - Lee Woon-jae, Choi Sung-yong, Park Kon-ha and Lee Byung-keun (oh, and Jo Sung-hwan sometimes) all seem to rotate the armband.

Every team is different, so the role of captain takes many different shapes..
Here in Korea, due to the Asian mentality, a captainship by default goes to the most senior player on the squad, and not to the one with the most 'leadership skills'.
During the 3 years I've been around I'cons, 2 players have been captain.... #15 had been captain for a couple of years, but when a certain #8 came to the team, he demanded to be given the captain's role, due to his being an older player, with more years as a pro. #8 took his role as captain to be that of disciplinarian off the field, especially keeping the young players submisive; but on the field he didn't take a leadership position. He was critical of other players whenever they made mistakes, and was ready to tear into anyone at halftime or after the game. He's now gone, and the captain is by default #15 again. He's quite laid back, calm, and generally doesn't make much adu about being Captain.
when Gaucho was here, he was quite astonished at the lack of 'influence' that the captain had. Gaucho was captain of his team, and he would tell me that the captain was the one that had to be constantly involved on the field with controlling his teammates, defending them, and 'working' the ref.
from the other foreign players I've talked to, it seems that around the league, always, the captainship falls to the most senior, causing certain discontent.

You got to be careful about who you pick as captain. Anyone who's been involved in sports knows how important a captain can be.

tony adams was captain at arsenal when he was a teenager. the fact that beckham is catain for england says a lot for how much of a nonsense it really is.

Hmmm, when Kim Dae-ui went off injured in the game today against Yokohama, Cha Bum-keun made Nadson the captain.

Roy Keane is a no-mark living on nothing but reputation and ego (and knackered legs). "A real man's man''? so whats one of them puggiwinnings? ...i bet u like to flex ur muscles in front of the mirror and do flying karate chops around your bedroom in ur spare time.
