Can't see Choi getting to Europe when Mrs Cha won't even put him in the Suwon team. All the more reason for him to get polishing that highlights video and fire it off to a few Austrian clubs then Actually he's done pretty well in terms of games this season, 24 starts and one sub appearance out of Suwon's 28 competitive games.

I know one coach (not a head coach - surprise) who said he reckons the problem is that the players are always half-knackered from too much physical training, so that they're fit in general terms, but are never ticking over at 100%-ready-to-go on match day. I've also heard that, from players. Just about all the players who came here directly from europe have said that there is way too much physical training here, and that they struggle to keep up. They say that's one of the reasons why they can't performein 'footballing' terms here...

Linz actually had pleaded with Choi to sign a two-year contract, but he figured he'd be better off in Suwon (where it looked at the time like they were a decent side) than in the Austrian 2nd division. One major reason was because they were due to play in the World Club Championship - shortly after he put pen to paper for Suwon, FIFA announced that was going in mothballs indefinitely. Then the AFC decided to bugger around with their competitions and Suwon's back-to-back Asian Club Championships didn't qualify them for the following year's ACL - which all goes to show that not all the tossers work at K-League HQ.

I met Choi Sung-yong at LASK Linz. Linz was the first team I watched play live at a stadium, so if you look at my signature below you'll see the LASK Linz crest on it. His parents went to my church... nice people really. And I was there for the Korea vs Czech republic match and we went back to Linz in the same car. WOOHOO.

It's too bad that Choi Sung-yong left but really LASK was a team that was in an unbelievable tumble down and even now their stay in 1. Division (the league under Austrian Bundesliga) is not guaranteed... and seem relegation candidates.
