It's 99% confirmed that Kim Nam-il will be a Suwon player after the FA Cup ends (news which has suddenly turned the missus into a die-hard Suwon fan for some reason...). They also hope to announce the signing of a reasonably big-name European international striker as well as a European U21 international winger before long. Gabriel Popescu will be allowed to leave and Marcel is most probably offski to make way for the striker. There's still talk of Zoran Urumov taking citizenship so that would mean he can stay So as to the identity of the international striker, let the speculation begin...

Teddy Sherringham?? ;D ;D how big of a name can this "european striker" be? i just can't image a K-League club (even if it is Suwon and all their damn money) to convince an average european striker to come here nonetheless a "reasonably big name" striker. And European U21 International winger...hmmm And Kim Nam IL have just attracted 10,000 School Fangirls to already-high Suwon attendance. 10,001 if u include me...

Here's a thought for you: 1) Suwon have had at least one Romanian player on their playing staff for every year since they were created. 2) Korea is in danger of losing its status as a drug free country. 3) There's a certain ex-Premiership footballer of the nationality mentioned in point 1 looking for a new club because of dalliances with something mentioned in point 2...

Song Jong-guk arrives at Suwon on the 12th for his medical and everything will be confirmed after that goes through.
No official news on Kim Nam-il's switch yet, nor anything about these mysterious foreign blokeys.
Oh, Zoran Urumov seems to be going off the idea of taking citizenship, so I guess they'll still need to offload someone if they want to bring in the foreign dudes.

Suwon look to be building for a bit of a new era at the top of the league. Just as well they have playoffs now so anybody can win it on their day. Because I expect Suwon might be hard to beat in the regular season record department. Suwonski

So is this suppose to be good news or bad news for Korean football? Bad news is, Song wouldn't have a chance to develop his skills in Europe, but the good news is he's making the K-league stronger and giving Suwon a big help. It's not like he was starting in Feyenoord anyways... If Kim Nam IL comes over to Suwon, I'll kill myself. Suwon's getting too strong now...

I think I read something where Gullit said that he liked Song's football, but that the boy just was unable to learn to speak english or dutch, and having been there for 3 years, Gullit decided that Song simply didn't give a 100% effort to succeeding.

When they are choosing a 17 year old over a guy who has seven WC games under his belt it says something about what the coach thinks that's for sure.
I'm not all that impressed with the track record of the Koreans overseas. Apart from the two at PSV who probably wouldn't have done any good at all if not for Hiddink they've all been bit players at decent clubs or players at bit clubs.

Apparently Suwon approached Gabriel Batistuta and were negotiating with him, but Cha has said that he wanted too much money and the club weren't prepared to pay so much to a 36 year-old.
I think Cha's dropped his interest in Yoo Sang-chul now as he's too old too (or something).
