Shenzhen's new owners vow to pay players www.chinaview.cn 2004-12-28 09:51:41 BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhuanet)--Players from penniless Shenzhen Jianlibao got a boost as the new owners of the Chinese Super League champions promised to make good on unpaid wages. The Huizhong Tianheng Company transferred 20 million yuan, about three million US dollars, into Shenzhen Jianlibao's account yesterday, one month after the Beijng-based investor bought out the club's near-bankrupt patron, soft drink maker Jianlibao Group. The new owner issued a statement, saying they would continue to back the club since the club with its League title represents a credible marketing platform for the soft drink brand. The cash injection, however, covers only part of the club's mountainous debts, said to have run up to 65 million yuan. No solid promises have been made by Huizhong Tianheng to follow up with more investment. More than half of the liabilities stem from unpaid salaries to players and backroom staff over the past eight months. The Shenzhen footballers, despite falling victim of the parent group's financial woes, won the league title and almost completed a double by lifting the League Cup, losing in the final to Shandong Luneng. Despite the bail-out by Huizhong Tianheng, there are still fears that there will be an exodus of players before the start of the new season. Captain Li Weifeng has almost secured a job at Shanghai Shenhua, who are also courting Shenzhen playmaker Zheng Zhi. Zheng saw his hope for an overseas career next season doomed after two fruitless tryouts with Hertha Berlin and Southampton. "There's not much time left for the new owners to persuade the players and coaches stay, " said Yao Gang, a former Shenzhen official. "They just got tired of the saga and want to get rid of the uncertainty that has been going on here." (Source: CRIENGLISH.com/SCMP)

Zhu Guanghu¡ª¡ªShenzhens' head coach, sighed a new contract with his new boss for one year,He will coach Shenzhen for one more year,Media had rumour that he will coach Chongqing¡ª¡ªa club who can pay him more and provide him a better working environment, The only reason for Zhu guanghu to stay in Shenzhen is that he may have chance to prove his ability in A3 cup & ACL, He is the best Chinese coach right now. Interesting, I'm posting Shenzhen's news to Korean, sounds like I'm a agent provocateur

Chinese footy sounds a lot like Scottish footy at the moment. And its more interesting than K-League right now.
Who would be the biggest name in the C-League now then...and can we have him at Aberdeen for the rest of the season please?

Scottish League? NO! C-league couldn't catch up with SPL in 20 years! or maybe another 20 years, even compare with K-league, the only advantage of C-leage is that it's system doesn't change too much, and C-league calls a rather widely attention (TWO TV station broadcasting CSL & CFL, at least 20 nationwide Sport newspapers reports it, and a lot of magazines too),I haven't watch a K-league match, but I'v watched some J-league matchs, Compare with J-league,C-league have some shortage in quality,in tactics, most of CSL teams did better than most J1 teams in defense, but worse in organize & attacking.the chief target of CSL is to catch up with K1 & J1.
Well, the best domestic player in CSL, IMO, should be these guys: Zheng Zhi(Shenzhen Jianlibao, but he had made up his mind to go abroad) Li Jinyu(Shangdong Luneng),Zhang Yuning(Shanghai Shenhua) & Zhao Junzhe(Liaoning Zhongyu)

I'm beggining to wonder what the level of play is like over at the CSL. Can't be too far off from Korea. Maybe its on par with Korea or the J.League. Could be even better.
If I'm not mistaken, most of us comment on the CSL with a condescending tone because of the Chinese NT's lack of accomplishments but I've noticed that all of China NT's players are big, slow, and strong, for the past 10 years. Maybe it could be that the CFA are drawing strings to get the players they want in ? Surely, the Chinese NT sticks to the same disturbing style of play but I doubt that this is also true to the CSL.

Some of the guys that have been around will remember Tommy, a Colombian forward that had a spell here at Busan. He played about 10 games, and scored 4 goals. After he returned to his Argentinina 2nd division Team, where he scored about 15 goals. at the end of that season his agent took him and several other guys to China, to have trials with several teams, and was not accepted in any team. Does this mean that the level is higer than the Argentinian 2nd Div? equal to Korea? Don;t know, but makes you think...

CSL is worse than K-league & J-league, espacially in tecnic, CSL teams recognition those players with muscular physique, I Think It's has something to do with our Youth traning,Chinese Football Schools lays particular stress on physical traning. Otherwise, their is still some players in the CSL who have quite well skill, like Yu Genwei, Zhang Xiaorui, Shen Si, Qi Hong, Xu Liang etc. CSL do have skillful teams like Beijing. As to Arie Haan's "China NT", he thought his players should be looks more like european gaints, as you mentiond, he pick out a lot of players who is "big, slow, and strong, " That NT only involve few skillful players like Li Ming,Li Xiaopeng, & Yan Song, and they were not put in a important position.

Maybe we could combine the worst players from each team to form the worlds worst football team and travel the globe stunning packed houses with our unique brand of complete and utter shitness. "Look as they fail to string two passes together, watch in awe as the one shot a game they do manage to get off hits the old lady in the 19th row behind the corner flag, admire the way the supersub that comes on with 10 minutes to go fails to get a touch on the ball and then pulls his hamstring walking off the pitch ruling him out for 6 months".

Transfer market open (05/01/05)
China captain Li Weifeng is expected to complete a multi-million RMB move from Shenzhen Jianlibao to Shanghai Shenhua as the Chinese transfer market officially opens on Wednesday.
Shenhua are willing to pay 8 million RMB to get their man, though the price will be regulated by the Chinese Football Association, which says Li Weifeng is worth 4.9m. Due to budget reasons, signing the highly-rated central defender means the Shanghai club will no longer pursue Zheng Zhi, who failed to impress in a pre-Christmas trial at English Premier League side Southampton and now looks Shandong- bound.
Shandong, who lifted both domestic cups in 2004, have cooled their interest in China midfielder Zhao Junzhe after Liaoning's asking price was considered too high, but are still prepared to pay top dollar to secure the services of Zheng and have offered Shenzhen a staggering 10 million RMB.
The fourteen CSL clubs are spoilt for choice, with almost 600 transfer-listed players to choose from. But each club can sign a maximum of five Chinese players, and have until 20 January to complete transfers.
In the meantime, all CSL and Division 1 clubs will attend pre-season training camps at Kunming Haigeng and Hainan Jinxin training bases from 10 January to 5 February, then the obligatory 'yoyo' stamina testing will take place before the 2005 season starts in March.
The CFA has yet to release the fixture schedule.
2004 CSL clubs: Beijing Hyundai Chongqing Qiche Dalian Shide Inter Shanghai Liaoning Zhongyu Qingdao Zhongneng Shandong Luneng Shanghai Shenhua Shanghai Zhongbang (newly promoted) Shenyang Ginde Shenzhen Jianlibao Sichuan Guancheng Tianjin Teda Wuhan Huanghelou (newly promoted)
2005 Division 1 clubs: Changchun Yatai Chengdu Wuniu Dalian Changbo Guangzhou Rizhiquan Henan Jianye Hunan Xiangjun Jiangsu Shuntian Nanjing Yoyo Ningbo Guoli Qingdao Hailifeng Shanghai 9th City (newly promoted) Shenzhen Kejian Xiamen Lanshi Zhejiang Lvcheng Yanbian (newly promoted)
